WAL: To increase our fitness/stamina

We have are practising for our cross-country race next week. We know the more we practice things, the better we get!

Each time we run the course, we are increasing our fitness. We get a little less puffed and we can move a little bit faster each time. In a few weeks we have already noticed a big difference.

Here we are in action

Hot Science: Solids, Liquids and Gasses

WAL: States of matter

Hot Science

We have been learning all about the way stuff is made out of stuff called molecules. We have been exploring what happens when heat energy is used to heat up these molecules.

Here is a video of us using our scientist skills of predicting, and observing (using our eyes, ears and touch from a safe distance) as we explored heat energy in a hairdryer, toaster and electric frypan.

Maths

Our whetū maths group are learning to order numbers from 1-20. Here they are working really hard on a problem from our modelling book. Vanessa can tell when we use our independent learning time well in maths because it shows in the way we improve.

Our tapatoru maths group are practicing their skip counting in 2’s and 5’s using this fun game on our blog.

Mother's Day Art with Adventure 9

Happy mother’s day to all our mothers and grandmothers! Our wonderful buddy class, Adventure 9 helped us to create these beautiful hand flowerpot art for our mums.

We began by thinking about reasons we love our mums and came up with some wonderful ideas:

“I love my mum because she gives me kisses” – Chelsea

“I love my mum because she makes me chicken and salad” – Eshaan

“I love my mum because she bakes me yummy banana cakes” – Jack

“I love my mum because she takes me to the movies and to the park” – Bryah

“I love my mum because she makes me rice” – Basil

Once we came up with our ideas, we wrote them down in our writing books as a story and published them onto our flowerpots. Adventure 9 helped us to make our handprints and flowers. As always they were fantastic big buddies who looked after us.

Here are the finished products. Thank you Kerri for this wonderful art idea! I'm sure our mums will treasure these for years to come!
