Music

We are so lucky to have music with Jenny! This term we are learning to participate in a range of music activities, both individually and as a whole class.  We are also learning to sing tunefully and to keep a steady beat.

One activity the children particularly enjoyed was listening to music and thinking about what animal the music could represent.

"We had to lie down and listen to the music and sit up and listen to the music and think what animal it was. I thought it was a shark" - Jacob

"I thought it was a lion" - Benjamin

"When we were listening to the music I thought colourful fish were around me" - Atta

"I thought it was just pink and purple fish swimming around me" - Zoe

"I thought it was a tiger" - Eshaan

"I thought it was a crocodile" - Basil

What creative thinking Busy Bees!

More Magnificent Maths!

WALT: Show bonds of 10

Wow! We have gone from learning to our bonds of five to our bonds of 10 in just ONE week. Aren’t we clever?!

The Busy Bees are becoming such experts at using PicCollage that they wanted to make more photos in their collages.

Here were are creating our bonds to 10:

And here are our wonderful collages! Awesome work Busy Bees!

Sharing Circle

Each Friday we do a sharing circle in the Busy Bees. This is where we can bring one thing from home to show and tell to our classmates. We are learning to describe, listen carefully and ask questions beginning with who, what, where, how and why. We also show Kotahitanga in our sharing circle because we are learning more about our classmates and developing new friendships.

Here is a collage of our sharing circles so far:

WALT: Show number bonds to 5

We have been learning how to use PicCollage to show our number bonds to 5.

Here are our number bonds to 5 we came up with:

We used all sorts of different things around the classroom to make our number bonds to five. Vanessa thought our photos were very creative and we showed different ways to make 5.

Busy Bees Class Treaty

This is our class treaty. We are very proud of it! We came up with these promises in week one after we had a collaborative discussion about the type of class we want the Busy Bees to look like, sound like and feel like. How clever were we to come up with “look after each other by sharing and being a good friend” ALL by ourselves?! We really blew Vanessa away with that!

We all signed our treaty using our hands painted in black and yellow just like Bees! So far we have done a fantastic job of following the promises we made and this makes our class a very special one to be a part of.
