We love our
new cup game! All of these cups have our fast words and other tricky words from
our reading and writing on them. We work together with a buddy to read the words
on each cup. The ones we get right we get to build a tower out of! As you can
see, we are very proud of our efforts! Our next step once we can read each word is to learn to spell them as this helps us in our writing.

Our Family Trees
Wow! It has
been so awesome to see all your fantastic family trees! Thank you to all your
wonderful parents for taking the time to fill these out. This really helps us
for our inquiry of “This is my story.
What is your story?”
I put my family tree below. Our Busy Bees find it very funny that I was going to be called Aaron if I was a boy!

Story Time!
Thank you to
the wonderful Stephen for reading us a story!
We had never seen a book within a book before so it was super special. We
are going to try to have as much expression as you did when we do our reading.

Mexican Hat Dance!
We did the
Mexican Hat Dance as part of our inquiry. We made our own sombreros using a
paper cup and hat. After we decorated our hats, Vanessa and Nicole showed us
how to do the Mexican Hat Dance. We had so much fun! We got quite puffed and
had lots of giggles. Keep an eye out for our performance of the Mexican Hat
dance at our assembly in a couple of weeks.
WAL: Our bonds to 10
Our Whetu
maths group have been working hard on learning their number bonds to 10.
We
made a rainbow with all the ways we can make 10. Our rainbow works from either
end, for example 0+10 = 10 and 10+0 = 10.
They then practiced
by playing matching up our number bond eggs. They were so much fun to match together! They could check using multi-link cubes or our rainbow.
Awesome work Whetu! You really are stars! I liked how hard you worked to match all the eggs.
