The Busy Bees are Firewise!!
Nick and Mark came to show us how to be Firewise! We learned that in a fire we shout “FIRE, FIRE, FIRE!!!” and we get down, get low and get out. We practised this and Nick and Mark were impressed!
We also got to see the fire engine. We learned
that firemen use an axe to get into houses that are burning. They also use
special masks that give them oxygen so they can breathe.
We have taken home our firewise books so we can
plan an escape route with out families.

Busy Bees First Trip!
We thought the show was very funny and entertaining as it was a bit silly.
Show and Tell
We love bringing in things to share with our friends on Fridays. We can talk about our specical treasures and are learning to include who, what, where, when and why in our descriptions.

WALT: Identify Nouns
Today we learned how a noun is a person, place or thing.
Here are some of the nouns we came up with:
Busy Bees can cook!
We were very lucky to have the exciting opportunity to cook healthy food with Chef Chris! We had so much fun learning about vegetables and how frogs legs taste like chicken!

We are bucket fillers!!!
We reflected on ways we can fill other people's buckets:
- We can put our hand out and the other person can put their hand out and we can help them up (Benjamin)
- If someone is new in the school we can help them by showing them around (Keira)
- We can play with people if they have nobody to play with. We can invite them to be our friend (Heidi)
- We can say nice things to them if they are feeling sad or if they aren't sad and we notice nice things that they do (Jacob)
Some of us also drew some fantastic looking buckets during discovery time this week:

Keeping Ourselves Safe
This morning we met constable Helen who will help us learn how we can keep ourselves safe. Today we learned about how our bodies belong to us and who can and can't touch us.

Discovery Time
We had such a
great time during discovery with the Bright Bugs. We have been learning to show
our Whakawhanaungatanga (positive relationships).
Here were our initial ideas on how we show our whakawhanaungatanga during discovery time.
- If someone is doing an activity by themselves we can go and be their buddy (Angus)
- If you do something wrong to someone like accidently hurt them you need to apologise and make sure they are alright (Atta)
- You can tell people how much you like their creations if you are on art on making something (Clara)
- If someone trips over you can help them by giving them a plaster (Eshaan)
- Play with people who don’t have anyone to play with (Chelsea)
- If someone gets hurt we can get a teacher and then look after them (Awhina)
Welcome Back!!
Welcome
back to Term 4! I have loved hearing about all the lovely adventures the Busy
Bees have had during the holidays! We have another super busy and fun term
planned.
We have
started our athletics and we will be practicing on Monday and Wednesday afternoons
for the next few weeks. Our Althetics Day is Wednesday 12 November. If you want
to be one of our fantastic parent helpers please let me know!

Lynley had a little lamb...
His fleece was
white as snow!
We loved meeting
Cloudy this week. We got to pat him and helped feed him some milk, which was a
new experience for many Busy Bees. Vanessa was super proud that everyone gave
it a go, even when we felt a little scared.

Ross Roadshow
Today we saw some VERY talented students from Ross
Intermediate. They sang and they danced for us. We put our yellow hats on to
reflect on the highlights:
“They did amazing dancing” - Awhina and Chelsea
“They did good singing. Our favourite was I just want
to be king!” - Heidi and Keira
“The dancing to the happy song and footloose” -
Benjamin
“I liked the girl who did the selfie after Happy”
Bryah, Clara, Zoe and Matty.
Jacob liked the host the best. We then reflected on
what made him a good host. We thought he must have practiced a lot and he had a
big loud voice. He looked at the audience a lot and knew everything he was
going to say by heart.
We were told only a few students from each group came.
We wish they whole group could have been there. Awhina wished her “totally
wicked” big brother Rawiri had come too!!
